Two peas but not from the same pod...

For lunch yesterday, I had fixed a casserole that contained asparagus and english peas. It was quick and I could open a can of black-eyed peas and cut off some of my already cooked roast beef and get us out the door without too much delay. We had some last-minute shopping and some grocery shopping, so that was pretty crucial.

Annabelle was contemplating whether she really wanted to consume the casserole with english peas or eat any of the black-eyed peas or whether she was going to eat any of them, and she said, "Two peas, Grandmomma!" and pointed first to the green peas then to the black-eyed peas. Her Mommy was half watching and listening to Annabelle, but she did hear her say "Two peas." Mommy thought Annabelle was falling back a bit on her counting skills and made a comment along those lines. Annabelle was right. Mommy was wrong. There were two kinds of peas. She wasn't counting the peas on her plate. She was pointing out that there were two kinds of peas.

Last week when we kept her she had gotten up to eleven in her counting. All on her own and without any coaxing from me. Mommy apparently didn't know she could count that high because she thought she was only up to eight. But it was eleven last week. I heard her. Maybe Mommy stops at eight when she's around her, so she doesn't know she's up to eleven?
