I'm a cute kid, aren't I?

I'm such a cute kid, aren't I?

June 30, 2008
Today is Monday and Mommy has an appointment so she brought Little Princess over to our house instead of us meeting at her house. She had originally planned to go from her appointment directly to the office and work for a while, but she decided she really needed to get other things done today, so she came back home.

Some of the funny little things she did today included:

I gave her a magazine that was turned upside down. She looked at it and said, "Ut oh!" and turned it back right side up. She's done this with some of her books, etc. I also tested her with another book to make sure it wasn't just a flunk. Her Mommy said she also does it even if the book doesn't have pictures, just words. Somehow she knows which way is right.

I had some square blank paper notes near the computer. She thought it was lots of fun to take each paper one by one and take it to the little table she was playing on. Back and forth, back and forth, she made each trip and then found a pen and used it to write on some of the papers. Oh, I know, that's not a big deal, but it was cute to watch her doing it.

We pulled in the Little Tykes table we used the other day when Beautiful Blue Eyes came for a visit and let her use it today. We set up the playhouse on the table and she played with her Little People on it for a long, long time, perfectly happy.
We finally switched over to the tea set and that was fun for the rest of the day.

And another thing, today I pulled out an old apron my Mother had at her house from years ago when she wore aprons. Sunday aprons were only half aprons. Daily aprons were ones with bibs. I fastened it around Annabelle and she loved her apron. We filled her pockets with goodies until she was drooping.

We all ate at Golden Corral together for lunch before putting Little Princess down and before she and Mommy went home. Yep, that girl loves her water-mella-mella-melon

and her ice cream cones.

It seems some days all we do is eat, especially when we go to her house. She doesn't seem to mind. She eats at her own pace. I'm sure I've mentioned that before, though.

I had pulled out her Mommy's old doll she had named Julie. She is almost as tall as Annabelle, but not quite. Her Mommy said she was a good bit older when she got that doll. She had another one she got for her first or second birthday which was a big, big doll, also. This one the Little Princess seemed to enjoy playing with.

She would put her on the floor in front of her with both their legs sprawled out and they would play 'patty cake' with each other. She was a riot to watch. She tried sitting in big baby's lap for a while, also.

Yes, and one of those top pictures shows her with a banana. She doesn't like her food cut into small pieces. She lets you know immediately she wants big, big pieces and goes into a melt down if you cut it. I only cut it into two pieces and convinced her she really had two big, big pieces of banana, not just one. She was OK with that this time. Next time I may not get away with it. She's a pretty smart little cookie, I tell you.

I always think I will remember the cute things she does, but if I don't write them down and I wait to write about them, I forget. I'm sure there are other cute things that sweet girl did today, but for now I'm not remembering them.

This is just an experiment...only an experiment...

I'm trying out something I read on one of my favorite sites recently. No, I don't remember which one, but it was just in passing conversation that someone mentioned things they couldn't stand. One particular writer said she couldn't stand those television commercials selling those little green bags that are supposed to keep your fruits and vegetables fresher for several days.

This brought on a few more replies as to how each contributor had their thoughts and methods for surviving without the little green bags, which are expensive and can only be used for a few times before they are discarded along with the money you spent on them.

One suggestion was to save the inner lining of your cereal boxes, you know those waxed paper linings, and use them to store your fruits and vegetables in them to maintain quality as good as, if not better than, those little green bags.

Since I had just finished a box of cereal this was my time to try out this suggestion. In all truthfulness, I had two bags because I had read this much earlier and had already saved my first cereal liner. The liners I used were from my boxes of 13.5 oz Kellogg's Special K Protein plus. These are thicker bags than the regular old sugar-laden varieties of cereal. You have to replace this cereal more often because there are only about 13 days worth of cereal in each $3.00 plus box, but once you cultivate a taste for it, it's not bad cereal and supposedly much healthier for you than some of the stuff out there. Anyway, you can see your wait won't be long for a new bag.

I had just been to the grocery store and bought several just-right, ripe bananas. It passed through my mind that now I could do my own experiment with my bananas, so I decided to put one of my bananas into the cereal bag and seal it up using a plastic clip and throw it into the refrigerator to see what reaction I would get from that banana.

Little Princesses' mother cannot stand eating bananas that have turned brown from being put into the refrigerator. After all, remember she is the Queen. There's absolutely nothing that changes the taste of those bananas, and the skin will be removed, but she still can't stand the look of those bananas. I've tried putting them into brown paper bags before and while it slows down the change in color of the skin, they still turn brown, just not as much.

I've also sealed them, minus the skin, using my hot shot food sealer gizmo (great thing in my opinion) and then tossed them into the freezer. They don't turn brown through this process and you have some yummy bananas ready for homemade banana bread.

But, for now, I'm wanting to see how long they keep pretty and yellow, just in the refrigerator and not the freezer.

So, I'm pleased to announce that after almost one day, well, alright, since around two o'clock yesterday afternoon until this morning around 8:30, my little banana has maintained it's pretty yellow coloring. I also put a couple on the counter in the other waxed bag and it doesn't appear they have over-ripened, but there is moisture on the inside of the bag left on the counter, but not the one in the refrigerator. Needless to say, those will be the first to go.

So, the experiment goes on. I'm hoping this will work. Maybe it will work for keeping blueberries, strawberries, etc. fresher in the refrigerator. We all know how expensive those things can be especially with the price of food going higher and higher each day.

So try your own little experiment with your cereal bags and let me know how you come out. It's free money except for the ever-rising cost of cereal. I'll maybe try another one later when Granddaddy finishes his cheapo-thino-waxed-paper bag of cereal.

The one who originally suggested this said she wipes out the first time and then washes her waxed paper bags and reuses them the next time. You do the same for the green bags so I'm sure it would be just fine. You might want to confine using strong-flavored things such as peppers to the same bag.

This sounds like a winner for such things as those baby carrots or even that yellow squash that has a tendency to go bad before you use it all up.

Oh, and since I am not familiar with hands-on handling of those green bags I don't know if they come with little holes in them or not, but I didn't add any to my bags. I would think letting any extra air in would cause the food to ripen faster, then again, sometimes the gases inside might cause them to ripen faster.

This is an experiment...only an experiment...so, we shall see.

I can hardly wait to see my Mommy....

Beautiful Blue Eyes made it through the night. Not without beating me up, but we both made it and he was ready to get up and moving so we didn't dilly dally in bed too long. The 'we' was the two of us. Granddaddy was still enjoying snoozing.

When we came in the den, he walked over to the computer, looked at the empty chair and asked, "Where's Thomas?" I said, "Excuse me?" To which he replied, "Where's Thomas, Tom, where's Tom?" That's Granddaddy's name, but we call him Tom and not Thomas. Beautiful Blue Eyes' middle name is Thomas. He was named after Granddaddy, so I knew he would know Thomas. I assumed they had told him he had been named after his Granddaddy and his Mommy says he hears his whole name quite frequently. That's usually the way parents make sure their kids knew their entire names...call them when they were in deep, deep trouble.

How he came up with the 'Tom' part I can only guess he's heard them talking or maybe I accidentally called him Tom instead of Granddaddy, but that's unlikely.

I asked him if he meant Granddaddy to which he replied he did. It just struck me so funny for him to call him Thomas/Tom Such a big shot little boy to be less than three years old!

Against my better judgement we walked with my sister and her husband today, but we did it because Granddaddy had promised him a ride on either the Carousel or the choo choo train. We were supposed to have done it yesterday, but once we got to the house he really didn't want to go out again, and I wasn't about to push it since we had already had a hard time with him getting him here. We did go out last night for Tacos but other than that we stayed close by home.

He decided to buck me about the stroller so I let him walk for a while. Of course the vendors always put those kiddie rides right out in the way. You can't go from one store to the other without the kids having to check them each out.

Naturally, a walk becomes a stroll and a struggle to get him to move on. But we were pretty patient (my sister and I, the other two had moved on long ago.) BBE does love those distractions, however, and it's hard not to let him enjoy himself.

I finally convinced him he was really tired and needed to sit in the stroller for a while.

We met up with the guys so BBE could ride the Choo Choo train. Granddaddy asked me if we should buy more than one ticket for him, which I said, no, we were already running late. So he buys one $2.00 ticket. He and Granddaddy walked inside by the train, he almost got in and turned around. Changed his mind completely! He left that area and there was no negotiating with the little fellow!

Finally the man gave Granddaddy his money back, which was probably a good business deal because we would certainly be reluctant to buy tickets again without knowing whether one of the kids would ride or not.

I think the little fellow is frightened of trains for some reason. His other grandparents said when they brought him back from his home up North one time they had stayed in a hotel and a train ran right behind the hotel, and when he came to my house right after that he heard the distant train tooting when he was trying to get to sleep and was very disturbed. Maybe he thought the train was going to come through the building. I don't know. I just know he's very scared of them.

Of course the Carousel was not even offered. I think those tickets were higher priced than the train and we weren't going to chance not getting that money back. He just has to grow up a little more before we can do certain things, I guess.

We have always been accustomed to the two older boys jumping at the chance to do anything we've suggested. No fear at all. This little one has puzzled us in some ways, but he's still adorable and I think we'll probably keep him!

We were working on a dead line for getting him fed lunch and meeting his Mommy and his brothers, so one walk around the mall was all we were able to make before we had to head over to the Varsity near his house.

I know, I know, I can hear you now. All you do is feed those grandkids fast food. You are pretty much right. I don't have time to watch kids and fix their meals, too. And besides I'm out of practice. It is their parents' responsibility to make sure they are fed properly when they aren't with me. That's my disclaimer! Any junk food I give them should off-set the good foods they get. And their parents are nice and responsible, therefore, we don't have starving, poorly nourished kids. Our visits with them are probably things they look forward to so they don't have to eat that yucky healthy food they're exposed to. So don't be so critical of me, OK?

So, it was on to the Varsity for some more good old greasy food. Of course, it doesn't help us as old folks too much, but hey! You do what you have to do.

While Granddaddy filled our order for naked dogs and greasy onion rings Beautiful Blue Eyes entertained himself by stacking the bottles on top of each other.

This picture of him peeking through the onion ring is one we have of each of the grandkids. Each has their own version, but they are each cute. We couldn't pass up a chance to get him with his big onion ring.

Here he is enjoying his onion ring even though it has become long and stringy.

"I wonder if this hot dog will fit in my mouth turned this way?"

At least he wasn't running around in the restaurant at that particular moment.

We had talked to him about running around earlier. I try to remind him that people have their orders on their trays and can't see Little People like him and might have hot coffee which could spill on his head. This fascinated him. "Hot coffee? Hot Coffee? Mommy let's me have hot coffee sometimes." Which I doubt, but I don't argue with an almost three year old about whether he gets coffee or not. That wasn't my point. It seemed to sink in for the moment, however.

He had his moments where his patience was stretched to the limit waiting to see his Mommy. Time didn't seem to pass as fast as he wished, but he still tried to be patience. His expressions were many, but he was a sweet boy.

"If I ever get home, I'm never leaving again!"

Finally he devoured a little dessert of animal cookies Grandmomma, or as he calls me "Grandmutter", had packed away just for the occasion, along with a pack of good old healthy Fruit 'N Yogurt Snacks.

He could easily have eaten several packs of those had I had them, but really Mommy needed him to take a nap when he got home and he really needed one. He didn't need to be all hyped up when he got there.

"Yes, I am really, really ready to go. I've been a very patient and good boy for you and Granddaddy today, but I just want to go home. Please!"

When we finally headed to see his Mommy, he chattered in the back seat about how he was going to 'tiss' his Mommy when he saw her. And he did. As soon as his seatbelt was unfastened he was out that door, 'tissing his Mommy. He was one happy little boy. I hope he settled down to a nice long nap for her.

Not so excited this time...

This is my Beautiful Blue Eyes after he finally adjusted to the idea he was stuck with Grandmomma and Granddaddy for a while. Isn't he such an adorable little boy?

Mommy had some errands to run, and we met her for what we thought would be a quick exchange from her car to ours of Beautiful Blue Eyes and his clothes. He was all smiles when they pulled up next to us. He got out of the car, pulled his suit case over and suddenly had an attack of "I don't think so's." He has always gladly come along, no tears, no complaining, no whimpering, but today he was in an entirely different mood. He didn't like that idea at all. He didn't want to part with his mother after all. All the screaming, hollering and noise he made would have wakened the dead. But Mommy would not be deterred. He was going with us. I felt so sorry for him, but I was beginning to feel more sorry for Granddaddy and me because I knew it wouldn't be a good day or two ahead of us.

Mommy picked him up, fought him all the way and fastened him securely into his carseat in the back of our car. She completely ignored those heart-breaking tears, turned, jumped into her car and headed out. But it really did break her heart. I could tell she could hardly stand it. But she had things she needed to do today and tomorrow.

Before I could close my side of the back door and climb into the front seat beside granddaddy, I found a little boy in the middle of the car, outside his carseat.
Knowing that there was no way we could transport a little boy from our pick-up place to our house without him being in the carseat, I stopped her and told her what had happened.

Luckily we still had Little Princesses' carseat in the car even though it wasn't really adjusted to his size. She again, picked him up and expertly and efficiently fastened him into that carseat and left. This time he either gave up trying to unfasten the seat or he just didn't take time to figure it out. She was gone! He was stuck with us.

Poor little fellow screamed all the way back to our house, and believe me, that's a long, long way with a screaming child in the back seat. But we finally made it. However, nothing would soothe and comfort him, not even his Mommy's suggestion that we stop and get him a Sprite.

After we pulled into the driveway and talked to him a bit about what we could do today, he finally settled down.

He spent the better part of the morning outside playing with a 1980's Carebear beach ball that I had unearthed, and amazingly still held air after all these years! He tossed that ball and chased that ball until I thought he would finally run down, but he didn't.

He played with the other outside toys we had

and Granddaddy gave him a ride in his new red wheelbarrow.

He wasn't as excited to ride in it as Little Princess, but he still enjoyed it. When he and Granddaddy went to put it backup he found Granddaddy's gardening wagon and they had to bring it back up for some more rides.

He's pretty good about entertaining himself either inside or out. He just had to make up his mind he was going to do it and be happy.

At lunchtime I suggested to him and Granddaddy that we pull out the old Little Tykes table we had bought years ago for the older boys. It was getting a bit shackled, and Granddaddy had worked on it earlier, but it still needed some more fixing up. That would come later.

He was happy sitting at that table playing with some Lincoln Logs he had found while waiting for Granddaddy.

We dragged that table out underneath the shade tree and Granddaddy went to Wendy's and brought back a lunch of scrumptious chicken nuggets and fries along with our drinks.

When I had told him what we were going to do about eating under the tree and then he would get a good nap before we played again, he looked at me and said, "I wanta see Mommy." Little tears began to stream down that sweet little face once again, but he managed not to have a melt down as previously. Again, I tried to reassure him that he would see Mommy after we ate lunch the next day. He can't comprehend time just yet; he's only a few months short of three. Much too young to understand, but he tried to be a big boy for me.

Of course, there is no nap time or bedtime for him at my house without me also taking one with him. So after lunch we tried to settle down after reading a few books.

I'm afraid I have to say, I managed to get my nap in before he did. Finally, after trying to get him to sleep by rubbing his little back and trying to help him relax, I would squeeze my eyes almost shut and try to peek at him while we were lying there. He would watch the fan go around, peek at me, turn his back to me, back over to see if I was still there, and everything to keep from going to sleep. Finally, at long last he fell asleep. He didn't sleep his usual 2 1/2 hours, however, but 1 hour is good when you know he needs it.

He woke up in a good mood and was ready to play again, but he would still be reminded of his Mommy and act so sad that finally I had made up my mind if he continued to be so concerned, we would call Mommy and have her meet us later that night so he could sleep at his home tonight. He's had so many things going on in his little life lately that it's no wonder he's upset. But, he managed to accept that he was stuck with us for another day, and settled down by the time his bedtime came.

He loves tacos so we went to Taco Bell for dinner.

I love how he eats his tacos. He attacks them directly from the top.
He will learn they won't fall apart when he can handle them better from the front. But, as I said, he's just a little boy right now.

Bedtime was another extended thing for him tonight. He is usually in bed by 8:00 or 8:30, but tonight it was more like 10:30 before he finally fell asleep. He was in bed on time, he just couldn't sleep. But, again, Grandmomma got her sleep in while waiting for him to fall asleep.

It was sad watching that little fellow because you knew exactly what was going on in his mind. He really, really missed his Mommy and could hardly wait to see her. And Grandmomma had forgotten to give him his needed pacifiers. He didn't complain. I just happened to remember them. He really needed his comforts right now.

Night time was not a particularly good time for either of us because he was so very restless and every move he made woke me or kept me awake, but we finally made it through the night without him having to go home.

Be thankful for the little things. Maybe next time will be better and we can look forward to him being his old self again.

Pass the cold, cold Pink Lemonade, please

Here's a card I made of the Little Princess. I just love these pictures of her.
I love any pictures of her. I really love her in person. Isn't she the cutest?

Oh phooey! The picture I thought I was pulling up had a heart on both sides of the wording at the bottom and were angled in. Much cuter, but I'm way too tired of fooling with pictures today to bother to fix it. It's still cute.

I write about this little incident, not because I think I am going to be forgetting it soon and might need to be reminded, but because in its own way it was funny...after the fact.

My son called and suggested we all get together this week end for a visit, eat and then maybe take the boys for a good swim to burn off some of that excess energy they seem to have accumulated over the past few months. Sounded good to us, so we made arrangements to meet at "Welcome to Moe's", which is a very favorite of the boys. Since he had not seen The Little Princess in sometime, her Mommy and Daddy along with Little Princess were invited to join us.

Mommy had already made plans to work Saturday, but big brother got in touch with her before she was left stranded without a car. Daddy was enlisted for babysitting and needed transportation that would include a car with a car seat for baby girl, since he drives an ugly green truck. Little Princesses should never be found in an ugly green truck. Not now, not ever!

We were all finally there and trying to make a little sense out of the bedlam that can be created when you have three hungry little boys or even just three little boys, hungry or full. Their Daddy had gotten their order, left it at the table for them to eat and they were to get their own drinks. Daddy left the lids to the cups at his place across the table. I was trying to be helpful by getting Beautiful Blue Eyes settled in to eating his soft taco, which was hot and sticking stubbornly to the foil.

I managed to finally pry it loose, hand it over to him and was silently bragging on myself for accomplishing my good deed for the day, when suddenly I feel a rush of ice cold something or other in my lap, just a brief instance before I heard Little Free Spirit utter a "Ut Oh!
I don't know which hit first...the ut oh or the splash of liquid.

Kids cups must be made to hold at least a quart of liquid or half gallon or maybe even a gallon even though they don't appear to hold that much. They must. Because I know I was dripping with at least a quart or more in just my pants.

Now is a good time to mention that after walking this morning we made a special trip back by the house so I could change into some nice clean clothes...a clean pink top and yes, a clean pair of white pants. Those white pants didn't stay white very long at all. About five minutes after we got together with them.

Oh yes, there was at least a half gallon of liquid on the floor under the table, under my chair, and just about everywhere nine chairs can cover, but mostly under my chair. Did anyone who worked there race over to help us? No, no, no, no, no! Not a single one. And they weren't that busy.

I'm suspecting they've seen this group of three boys before and decided it would just be best to let us sit in our river of pink lemonade rather than clean it up and then have to do it all over again.

My daughter did make an effort to clean up some of it while I continued to drip along the side lines. She probably used up most of Welcome to Moe's annual allowance of napkins and it would have served them right if she had. You don't just leave old folks with liquid pouring from their bodies....and their clothes. They might catch pneumonia!

In all fairness, it was just an accident. He was only trying to get his lid, which his Dad should have put within his reach. His little arm just tipped the cup over. And I forgave him, once I regained myself.

My daughter thought it was funny. She said the look on my face was priceless and I can only imagine she's right because it was indeed a priceless feeling. One I don't care to experience everyday.

So much for a clean top and clean white pants. And so much for making a trip by the nearby Joanne's. I'm not sure I could have explained those tie-dyed pants I was sporting. At least the pink lemonade was a pretty good match for the top.

Yes, I forgave Little Free Spirit, but as for his Father, I'm still harboring a bit of hostility towards him. He'd better be careful. Next time I may put him in the line of fire instead of me.

And close your ears and eyes, Little Princess, me thinketh you already know too many ways to get into trouble and don't need any tips from the cousins.

My Daddy's honesty

This is a newspaper article I came across today. This reflects the honesty of the man who raised four children and the example he was in our lives.

I hope you are able to read this. It was tattered and torn from use of sitting at my parents house, but I covered it with laminating in an attempt to preserve it. I thought someday the grandkids might be interested in seeing it.

The newspaper article was published March 28, 1962 and it had been 14 years prior when my Daddy had clerked in a grocery store. A gentleman came in for some groceries, Daddy had served him and some how the man had forgotten to get his change back from Daddy. Daddy had wrapped the money in a paper, put it in his wallet thinking he would see the man soon. It was 14 years later they ran up on each other in the Veterinarian's office. Daddy pulled his wallet out and gave him the change. According to the paper the money had already turned dark from being in his wallet.

The man was so impressed with my Daddy's honesty he went immediately to the newspaper and reported it so they could publish it in the paper. I don't think he had even remembered he had left without his change.

That's the article condensed in case you can't read it. Just a bit of family history for the wee folks who never got to know their Great-Granddaddy or maybe great-great.

Let's see, that happened 60 years ago he made the change. I think if you double click on the article it will enlarge for you to ready more easily.

Mooo, Mooo, Mooo

Ohhh, but that's a BIG, BIG cow, Granddaddy!

"Look Mommy, No hands!"

Friday, June 20, 2008
Early in the morning before we left for our walk, Daughter called and asked if we were doing anything special today. Of course we weren’t doing anything so special we couldn’t change our plans, so I said, “No, what you got in mind?”
Since it has been such beautiful weather the last day or so she thought it would be good to get The Little Princess out for a day. She tries to let her have time to enjoy these beautiful days while we have them…not too hot like last week, just right.

She suggested we meet with her Uncle, my brother and his wife to eat at a restaurant up the road a piece. We haven’t eaten there in a while and since all of us enjoy it, it was a good suggestion. Also, she suggested we ask her Aunt, my sister and her husband since they like to eat there, too. She met us after our walk and off we go.

Little Princess enjoyed her meal, although not quite as much as she did on Wednesday when we were out with her for breakfast and lunch. She was too busy people watching. You may just as well put her so she can see people because she will turn so she can see them, with or without your help.

Before we left and after her meal, my sister-in-law pulled out a stuffed toy puppy dog she had brought just for her. When she handed it to her The Little Princess would not turn it loose. She snuggled with her new found friend and loved it so much.

We parted our ways with the Aunts and Uncles and headed to Mayfield Dairy. Little Princess had not been since her first birthday. We got there in time to see boo-koodles of kids coming out of the store. This is always a popular place to kids and grown-ups alike to congregate but especially during the weeks when day care/school groups take their kids on field trips. There were three or four yellow school buses parked in the over-flow area, so we knew we were in for a line of kids inside as well as outside.

We got there just in time to take in a tour of the dairy. We watched a short movie with the little Princess squirming her way between her mother and me trying to reach freedom somewhere in the process.
Mommy kept a pretty strong hold on her and her escape efforts were thwarted, but thank goodness it was a very short movie.

They always give us hair nets to go on our heads. I’m not sure what the purpose is since we don’t really come in contact with the food area as such, but maybe it was because hair has tendency to fly and they were afraid it would fly into the room when the door was opened. Even the men who had beards had to wear one on their face. Funny sight indeed. Little Princess allowed her mommy to put one on her head though she tried to pull it off a time or time. Then she just left it on for the tour. Mommy carried her most of the time, I think. Otherwise, she would have been all over that dairy.

There were no real cows at this dairy. It was just the processing plant for their milk. They test it there, package it, then ship it out. They have a process they go through to cleanse the milk of any unsavory tastes in case the cows get into something they shouldn’t. Anyone who grew up on the farm is well acquainted with the consequences of having a herd of cows get loose in a bitter-weed patch. That milk is totally undrinkable, sweet milk or buttermilk. It’s nice the company has figured out a way to filter those awful tastes out of their milk. Buttermilk is my favorite milk choice. I like their sweet milk, as much as I can like sweet milk, but I won’t pay the extra price just to get their milk, except for the buttermilk. I’ll pay as much for a half gallon of buttermilk as I do for a gallon of sweet milk. Now I know that’s pretty sad, but having been raised on the real stuff, I am pretty picky about my buttermilk. It has to treat my taste buds right or I don’t want it.

The tour was rather informative. I think that is the third or fourth time we’ve been on it and each time we’ve learned entirely different things each time. Interesting.

After the tour Granddaddy and Mommy went in search of the famous ice cream cones. Just in the last year or so they’ve raised their prices from $1.00 to $1.50 for a single dip, but their single dip ice cream is a double or triple dip from other places. It is humongous!

Mommy had to get her fill of ice cream by sampling about four good samples before she decided on Blueberry Cream Pie for her and Little Princess. I chose my usual…chocolate mint and Granddaddy settled on Buttered Pecan, which says a lot because he almost never veers from the old reliable Vanilla.

I stayed with Little Princess in the vicinity of a table so we wouldn’t lose our spot when we needed it. Of course she made up for all that time she was confined in her Mommy arms by climbing up and down the bench and over and through whatever got into her way. In and out of chairs, back to the bench which ran two lengths.

Little Princess didn’t want to share too much more. But then she had to play a while longer...."Hmmm Let’s check out the bottoms of these chairs…they look like they come apart. Ohh, they do."

"Look, Mommy, there’s a lid in this chair, and I can see the floor down there!"

On and on it goes. Mommy asks if she wants some more ice cream. “Noooooo,” says she. But she really meant “Oh yeah.”

Mommy didn’t get a lot of that ice cream cone. Little Princess did.

All I heard was complaining from her mommy. “I didn’t get very much of that ice cream.” But Little Princess certainly made it worth her while. She offered her a kiss for eating all the ice cream.

I suggested to Mommy maybe she should go get herself one and let Annabelle have the rest of that one.

Well, Little Princess did eat most of the ice cream, right down to the cone she turned to its side and bit a hole out of.

She continued on until the cone was nice and squishy, ooey, gooey and absolutely undesirable for anybody to want to eat. Especially after a little mouth had gotten hold of it so…so…just totally disgusting! Even her mommy didn’t want to finish it off. But Little Princess did a great job on that ice cream and cone.

And Little Princess found the time to help clean up a mess she had found on the floor...most likely caused by her sloppiness, I mean it was probably her Mommy's sloppiness.
"Somebody missed a spot on this floor, Mommy. I'll clean it up for you."

While we were eating our ice cream Annabelle spotted a little boy and of course, all kids look like 'babies' or 'bebes' to her, so she announced to the world there was a 'bebe'. The little boy must have been around 3 and he took offense at Annabelle's remarks. He loudly told her, "I'm NOT a BABY! I'm a BIG BOY." She still thought he was a 'bebe'.

After eating our ice cream, Mommy wanted to take Little Princess over to see the big cow sitting on the front lawn. It isn’t a real one, of course, but one they use in traveling around the state. She took her over one time, and Granddaddy took her over, but that was it for her. When she realized how large that cow was she was having nothing to do with her. Mommy walked back over thinking maybe she would change her mind, but she didn’t. Mommy was pulling her one way and she was pulling Mommy in the opposite direction. Neither Granddaddy nor I could get her to go with us to see that big, big cow again. You can't see in the picture below, but she had her little arm clinched tightly around Grandmomma's leg and she wasn't letting go. This wasn’t going to be a repeat of the Easter Bunny or Santa.

This time she had found her words and she was going to make clear she didn’t want to see giant cow. And she used those words, loud and clear…”NOOOOO, NOOOOO, NOOOOO! So she didn’t have to go sit on the cow this trip!

"Protect me, Grandmomma!"

And these are just some cute pictures at the end of the trip I just couldn't leave out. Just 'cause she's so darn cute! She loves the flowers and her rocks.

After we were all loaded back into the car her mommy decided she would go back and get a slushy…since she had been so deprived. I’m sure it wasn’t as good as that ice cream. But she should have remembered Little Princess loves Blueberry anything.
It didn’t take long before Little Princess fell asleep. Maybe five whole minutes and she slept for about thirty minutes, or until we got back home. Then she was wide awake. Mommy let her play for a while and then insisted she take a nap. Everything to her now is noooo, noooo, noooo. And of course those were the words out of her mouth at the mention of a nap was nooo, nooo, nooo. But Mommy won and Little Princess got about an hours nap before she awoke to a poopy diaper. Same old trick, same little girl.

It was a fun day and we loved being included in the day with them. I sincerely doubt kids who go to Day Care everyday who are exposed to as many days of “field trips” as our little Princess. She certainly has been exposed to lots of fun things in her short life time. I hope they are fun for her as well.

I have early morning call for work tomorrow morning (keeping Little Princess), so I'm not even going to proof read this. Thursday and Friday will keep me occupied with Beautiful Blue Eyes who is scheduled to come spend the night for a couple of days, so don't expect much out of me for a few days. I need recovery time, too, you know!
