Another session finished!

Today was another day of therapy. Granddaddy and I have both been feeling puny for the last few days, but since I felt better I went ahead with my therapy even though I would have preferred to stay home. I am at the point where as my kids like to say, "I'm so over this!"

I did do some new things including lying on the bed on my tummy with my shoulder over the edge and a 3 lb. weight attached to my arm for swinging! He said I was ready for a 20 pound one and I complained about him adding the three pound one to my regimen.

He also increased the number of times I held those stupid three lb. weights up into a V shape and back almost to my side. He wasn't fooling me. The last time he almost killed me by having me do three sets of 12. I just didn't think I would make them it through all those lifts then and I knew I was doomed today, but somehow I did as he had increased them to three sets of 15 instead of the twelve.

He also did an evaluation and had me put both arms behind me at different times so he could measure how close I was on each side to the other. It was difficult but I think I pretty much got the left shoulder side up nearly as far as the good arm. I think he was more amazed at the strength I had in my good arm than in the other arm. He doesn't know I've had my experience wresting with two children in my lifetime. It makes a difference in your strength. I may be old, but I haven't gotten all that weak in these last years.

He also checked my strength in both arms pushing against and pulled toward him. Lately he has gotten to where he checks that strength check after I've done something pretty steneous.
Can't remember what it was, but it had left me pretty winded, so I didn't do quite as well as if he had let me rest.

I had it all alone this morning. I was his first appointment and no one came in for treatment while I was there. He said it was pretty light today but the rest of the week would be very busy.

Granddaddy stayed in the car and was going to take a stroll around the area for his exercise he misses the days I have therapy, but it sprinkled a little and he was afraid he would melt so he jumped back into the car and, I'm sure took his nap there today. He was coughing so much I was afraid they would think he gave them something just hearing him cough, so I suggested he stay outside today. I doubt he missed much since I was the only one there.

The soreness had not gotten better since Thursday session of stretching so he didn't do any more today, thank goodness. I don't know what the next one will be. I know I sure do dread that stretching even though I know I have to have it to make it better and I do want my usage back to normal.

He is planning three more weeks of sessions and feels I should be back to normal for the most part by the time I go back to the doctor. I certainly hope so. I'm ready for this to end. I've got other things to do.

Annabelle with her peaches

If you click on the picture I think you can at least see the pictures at a larger size. You just have to scroll over and up and down to see each of the pictures. Yes, that is a bottle sitting next to her tray, but no, she doesn't use a bottle. That's her baby doll's real bottle which has to be filled with real water. She's never been a bottle girl. I think Nonnie gave her this one to use with her dolls when she was at her house one day recently. She loves her babies having the real thing. I can understand that. I would have loved that myself when I was little had I had such available to me for my dolls.

This layout was just an experiment to see if I could download one since I couldn't change the settings to make it small enough to transfer. After a couple of tries looking for the correct version, I finally succeed with this one.

Just had to add a picture of something that happened while I was out of commision. These pictures were made two or three days after I fell. Broken bones haven't stopped me so far from getting pictures of that sweetie. They may be a little blurry, but they would have been anyway, had I had both hands/arms available.

This was one of my first layouts since I broke my shoulder and arm bones. I had great desire to use my recuperating time in a constructive way, but my shoulder and mind had different plans.
I didn't make the layout several days after the accident. The layout was made a couple of days ago.

My sister and her husband gave Annabelle her very own peaches to enjoy. You can see she was enjoying them. I've also made another couple of her and Mommy making a peach cobbler so her aunt and uncle could also enjoy the remaining one with her. That's for another day, maybe.

This method was a new technique I learned from a lady who sends me her tutorials over e-mail and after a couple of tries I finally found a way to do it to suit my sometimes bouts of perfectionism. I break the bank sometimes just having copies printed until I get them like I want.

I'm amazed at how much the brain cells died and I forgot what I had learned in making my layout. I guess I was using them to recover, but I've been stretching them the last few days and even though I've been very aggravated at times, I'm beginning to remember a lot of the things and learning some new problems that I've managed to create.

Annabelle's Mommy and I had signed up for another course on line, and I was really looking forward to it, but alas three days before the class was to begin, my central vacuum cleaner hose and I had a disagreement about how much work it was going to do. I was nice, I didn't scream at it, I just suggested we get an early start to the day while Granddaddy was still asleep. I really wanted to get out somewhere and make some pictures of flowers or something. It was having none of that. If Granddaddy could sleep in why did I have to be an old fuddy dud and insist on starting the day early? Guess who won? It turned into a great Python and after body slamming me to the floor it immediately settled down for a very long nap, leaving me in pure torment.

I don't argue with him anymore. Granddaddy is in charge of wrestling him within my reach and recently I just started tackling the job of vacuuming once more, but only after the snake is within my safe reach and control. I always warn Granddaddy, though. That thing is vicious! And evil!

It's amazing how much pain just running a vacuum can cause after you've broken a bone, but I've tried to be stubborn like my Mama and not let it get the best of me. Almost six weeks have gone by and I still haven't completed the on-line course. I've enjoyed watching Annabelle's Mommy post her new found talents occasionally on her blog.

Oh, and forget all that hogwash about having a telephone close by or your cell phone on you at all times, blah, blah, blah. I was very close to a telephone but there was no way I could have reached those few inches up for that telephone with that broken bone. Another one of those, you have to be there and have it happen to you, moments. And the cellphone would have been shattered to pieces, so it would have been no good. I have no good advise on how to handle such a situation. I can only tell you how to prevent it. Don't mess with a python vacuum cleaner hose at 8:00 in the morning! Especially after it says, "NO!"

Granddaddy took very good care of me, however, after about a two-week period we were both getting tired of this arrangement. I definitely don't have patience for such. Certainly not the six months (yes, months) the doctor said it would take for it to heal completely. I had other things to do, other plans made and it didn't include six months or even six weeks of recuperating. I guess I found out differently.

It's hard having to depend on someone else especially when you have to have them assist you when you bathe and the ultimate frustration may have been having your spouse roll your hair. Remember, a girl has to have her hair washed and rolled to be able to face another wee. To me, it was a very simple process. Part the hair, roll it up. To him it was something he had never in his life dreamed he would ever be called upon to do. It was as though I had asked him to do the most difficult thing he had ever attempted in his life. The look on his face was really pretty pathetic. I had to feel sorry for him. He didn't cause this but he was having to pay for it just as I was. But I am so thankful it was me and not him! I wouldn't wish that on anybody but certainly not him.

Some asked me why I didn't get it done at the beauty shop. There was no way I could have had them wash my hair. That would have been much more painful than the way we did it. Those sinks are hard enough to tolerate under the best of circumstances, but not with broken bones!
So you do what you have to do. You wash it with one hand and hope for the best.

It took a lot of determination on my part and there was one week when I had to have him hold my bad shoulder up so I could reach the back side and the other side. Then the next week I would prop my shoulder against the wall to help me reach the back side. You certainly get creative when you have an emergency.

My aunt got the biggest kick out of my story about the hair rolling and said she wished she could have seen pictures of him rolling my hair. I assured her we were both so frustrated with each other that had I had a camera in my hand, I might have conked him over the head with it. Well, I might would have, I said. I didn't say I did or would! Just might. And there were the cooking lessons, washing clothes, etc. No, it was no vacation for me, I promise you.

I was so thankful my doctor had told me how to help relieve some of the pain when I asked him on my second trip in two days after I fell. I was still on meds that Friday when I asked him. He immediately said, "Recliner! Sleep in the recliner!" I never would have believed sleeping in the recliner would have made such a difference. I never would have survived this whole episode without the recliner. I slept in it for probably almost four weeks. I've just returned to my bed and though it still hurt like heck, it felt some better, not scrunched up in the confines of a recliner. But believe me, I am so very thankful for recliners. Who could have known that sleeping in a bed, your arm would feel like dead weight. Not me,but it surely does. I hope this is the worst I ever go through. A broken wrist is easy compared to this.

The doctor said my break was one of the most painful breaks you could ever have. He gets no arguments out of me. He said in his short life (he's just a little middle-aged baby) he has had shoulder breaks on both sides, so he knows pain. He's had other breaks to, so he would know.

I am also thankful for what my son-in-law calls Physical Terrorists. I am glad the doctor referred me to them. I'm not sure how much I would have been able to use this side had it not been for my PT. He has helped me through lots of painful treatments without killing me. I still have a ways to go, but I am very happy it has come this way, so far, so good.

I miss playing with my sweet baby girl. She has shared my frustration at times, too. She has tried so hard not to hit my arm and was upset when she thought she had. I had jumped because I was afraid she would hit it and on an occasion or two she did bump it, but she didn't now it. I couldn't make her feel that awful over something she couldn't help. She's about as ready as I am for me to get well.

One day she wanted to show me "her pictures" and wanted to sit with me to look at them. She ran from one side of the recliner and the finally in total frustration she almost cried. She said, I want to sit up dare with you!" I made room for her on my 'good' side and we both enjoyed the pictures and each others company.

Maybe soon I'll feel like posting a few more of my blogs I was trying to bring up to date. But then, I may just get bogged down in doing more layouts.

But for now, I'm just happy progress has been made and I'm on the mend. And my sweet daughter took care of me as well. She prepared lots of good food that kept us nourished, even though she did run out on me one time for several days to go on vacation! Can you imagine?
No, I appreciate everything she's done for us. I don't know what I would have done without her.
She's a good daughter and I hope she's rewarded in the future with an equally good daughter should she ever need her. I'm counting on it, for her sake.

Strange little girl

Mommy called early this morning and wanted to know if we could keep Annabelle so she could go in for another training session and do a little work at the office later today.

After walking with the sibling and spouses I called Mommy and told her we would meet her down at her house and pick up Annabelle for lunch at Granddaddy's and her favorite place, "Captain D's".

She saw us when we pulled up and Mommy said she got excited. We made it almost to the restaurant when my sister called. They were also on the way, but we were closer so we made sure to hold our favorite spot away from the cold, cold window. And it was a good idea because today has been one of the colder days so far this winter.

Annabelle seems to be feeling much better today because once we got into the restaurant she breaks out with squeals. Very unusual for her, especially lately. She's pretty shy in public, but today was a bit different. I guess she hasn't felt as well in a few days, so she just needed a little exercise of her lungs.

Almost the entire time we ate, for some reason she felt she needed to hold my hand. Only she was holding my hand with her left hand instead of her right hand. She's been pretty much inclined to use her left hand for eating, but most of the time she needed it to hold my hand. Later she did turn it loose and go back to eating with her left hand.

Strange thing is, she made me use my left hand to eat with. I'm right handed normally, but I have to admit breaking my right arm several, no five years ago, (can it really be 5 years already?)forced me to learn to use my left hand.

The rest of the afternoon was pretty much boring to her, I'm sure, because she was pretty tired by the time we got back from eating and it was almost time for her to go down for that much-needed afternoon nap. She didn't fight me at all! She was pooped. But we did play for around 30 minutes before napping.

And, one other thing, Mommy had told her before we left for lunch that if she ate a good lunch she could have her choice of either a fortune cookie or a Hershey's Kiss. I reminded her of it on the way home and her little face covered with a smile, thinking about her Kiss. She had made her choice and couldn't wait to get it. Of course, I gave it to her and she had to open it all by her little self with Granddaddy watching her. She wouldn't even put it into Granddaddy's mouth. Now do you think she was little selfish? Not really. She's been waiting for feel better for almost a week and she deserved a dessert. She really ate a great meal today at lunch and I packed a contained of diced peaches which she devoured after at least five pieces of shrimp, a good bit of mac and cheese, hushpuppy (1/2), and coleslaw. She wasn't too much into her broccoli today, but that's alright, her appetite seemed to be returning.

It was a good day for us all.

Happy birthday to me??? Really??? Yes, indeed...

I've contended for at least 34 years that a child will always find a way to be sick on my birthday. At least one will. There's something about me having a birthday that just invites sickness! I'm beginning to become a little paranoid. Maybe it has something to do with me.

So, going from one kid to another kid and the last episode with a granddaughter, I'm convinced I just won't celebrate birthdays anymore. I'm declaring birthdays are off limits for me in the future. We'll only celebrate Ground Hog's Day in the future.

Anyway, as I mentioned yesterday Mommy had jury duty this year, on my birthday, since she begged off earlier last year. It was out the door by 6:48 a.m. so we could beat the traffic and be at their house by 7:30. We made it. Exactly at 7:30. Mommy had a deadline of leaving by 7:45 because she had to be there by 8:15. She was running a few minutes late, but I assume she got there on time. I never asked.

Annabelle was still in bed asleep when we got there so we let her sleep until around 9:00, since she has had a very rough few days lately. I asked if she wanted something to eat and offered her some oatmeal which she said she did want. She really didn't want it after the first bite so I offered some grapes. She ate about 9-10 of those and that was her breakfast.

Her diaper was not very wet this morning because she hasn't been drinking much juice/water lately. It was my mission (in her mommy's eyes) that I should make sure she drank plenty of liquids today, whether she thought she needed it or not. That included forcing it down her with a medicine spoon or medicine dropper. Right. Liquid goes easily down sealed lips and clinched teeth. It became a power thing. She had the power and I had none.

We tried the medicine spoon thing, the medicine dropper thing, bribery, threatening, begging, pleading, how about a popcicle, thing, still no more than a few sips and only 1/2 sippy cup gone. In the meantime her mommy would sneak moments to call and harass me to see if I was getting liquids down her.

We even played the game of her deciding that since she had to drink the liquid, it was only fair that I should have to do the same; therefore, she would bring my drink over to where she was drinking hers and together we would drink. It was probably a good idea because I was failing to drink my drink also.

But that game got old in a hurry to her and we were back to the old stuff again.
I even suggested that since she wasn't drinking her drink maybe she was just ready for naptime. She didn't agree with that but still didn't want to drink anything else.

"You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink." I could have written that all by myself, especially after today. She did get at least 1 2/3 sippy cups down before I put her down for naptime. I don't know how much Mommy got down her after we left, but I suspect she wasn't very successful, either. But I may be wrong.

After lunch I was so very sleepy and since Granddaddy had been napping all morning I asked him to watch Annabelle while I caught a quick nap. Just as I was about to lapse into a nice sleep I was awakened by a thud, right on top of my chest. A big black cat had chosen my chest to rest on while she begged for attention. That would be fine except she gets those nails caught in my sweater and I don't like for her to try to get loose and think I'm preventing it and then scratching me. And she's good at that.

She forces you to pay attention to her, as I said above. She will not be ignored. She bites your finger with a little added pressure if you fail to love on her. I loved her for a few minutes and then made her get down because of the sweater thing. But she wasn't happy, so I tried to put a pillow on top of my chest before she got back up again. She sat there for a while letting me love her and then she turns and sticks the back side right in my face! How dare she diss me after I've taken nap time to give her a little attention.

I made the comment that I didn't think anybody ever loved her around that house or she wouldn't keep aggravating me every time I come and especially when I try to sleep. Annabelle was still sitting in Granddaddy's lap doing her little "see if I can fall on my head from Granddaddy's lap" when I heard her say, "Me loves Chadow, Grandmomma!" And she does. Her Mommy says she says it all the time that she loves Shadow. It was just a funny little thing that happened today.

Annabelle has a pair of teddy bears that interact with each other wirelessly. You push the hand of one and the other starts a conversation about singing the ABCs with the other. Very cute. I knew she had gotten them for Christmas from the couple her mommy and daddy had met on a cruise a few years back. They are from Boston and have kept in touch with each other and visited each other on several different occasions. Of course, since Annabelle came along they like to make at least a yearly visit and always remember her with some pretty lavish gifts on different occasions of the year.

Annabelle has begun singing her ABC's lately. She is such a funny thing. She gets them right most of the time. I assume she must have used these teddy bears as part of her learning experience. I have to say they are very, very cute.

When we read one of her books that has Humpty Dumpty, and several others, I read them to her and end the line with a different word, such as Humpty Dumpty sat on the floor, or Rock a Bye Baby in the tree branch, or Hey Diddle Diddle, the Cat and the Fiddle, the cow jumped over the sun or rooftop, etc. just substituting different words and totally messing with her little mind. She catches it everytime and tells me "Nooo!" and corrects it. She knows her nursery rhymns and tells me the word that goes there instead of my silly word.

Also, while she and I were playing on the floor everytime I would put one of the toys where I wanted it she would pick it up and move it somewhere else after saying, "Nooo." Finally, just to see what her reaction would be, I commented something along these lines, "That's not fair! You move my person. You're taking my creativity away! You're changing my imagination! That's not fair." To which she sat for a second, then reached over and returned my little person back to the place I had it in the first place, even though it wasn't where she really wanted it in the first place. I'm sure she had no idea what my "creativity" meant or anything about what I meant when I mentioned my "imagination." But it was lots of fun watching her making her decision about maybe making me feel left out of the game or whatever she had rattling around in that little brain. I just love her so much! She's so much fun.

Granddaddy decided that after we had our blessing at lunchtime he and Annabelle should sing Happy Birthday to Grandmother so she finally joined in singing and she would say, "Happy birthday to me and Grandmother, Happy birthday to me and Grandmother," all the way through the song. It was all about her and Grandmother! And why shouldn't it be? What a hoot she is!

What better way to spend a birthday than with a sweet little grandchild? I can't think of anything more fun except having them well. Get well, soon, Little Princess, we're all ready for you to.

Report on the sick

Mommy called early this morning and Annabelle is acting lethargic. She is concerned about her. She called the doctor's office and while talking to the nurse, the nurse asked if that was her she heard in the background. Her Mommy had to confess it was her baby. And she had decided to serenade the nurse with her song of ABC's. They'll do it everything. Just when you're describing to the doctor's office how they are on the verge of sure death, they sense it and still to show you up.

She was to watch her and if she didn't get better, maybe take her to the emergency room. She had her moments all through the day of getting better and then worse, then better.

Daddy had kept her during the day when her Mommy went to work. She had to finish up some work at the office she had to put off when she got so sick on Friday. When Mommy came home, Daddy had gotten Annabelle up and she had started throwing up all over again. He, being a good Daddy that he is, cleaned up after his baby's throw up. That doesn't happen very often, I can promise you. It is a pretty disgusting smell and thing to have to do, so kudos to you, Daddy, for stepping up to the plate.

It may be necessary to take her to the doctor tomorrow. She isn't running a temperature, so hopefully they'll be able to make it through until morning. And did I mention, Mommy has jury duty tomorrow. Rescheduled because she couldn't do it last year because she had a more pressing issue of a little one to feed. Pay day, some day, and it's difficult to get out of it because they never give you a number to call to let them know you and your child have been deathly ill.

Mommy has been very concerned that Granddaddy and I might catch what they had. I certainly hope we don't get it, but I certainly hope we don't catch it while we're needed to relieve for jury duty for Mommy. So many nuisances, all at once.

And even some more random thoughts

Mommy was feeling some better this morning and so was Annabelle, so I fixed them some scrambled eggs, grits and homemade biscuits. Well, OK, I don't do homemade anymore, so I'll confess they were really made from Bisquick, shhh, don't tell Mommy because she's so spoiled. They seemed glad to get something on their stomachs for a change, after being so very sick.

I even made a baby biscuit for the baby! She loved the idea, even though she only took a nibble or two. She giggled at the thoughts of a baby biscuit!

These thoughts are not in particular order, just trying to get them down.

At one point Mommy's phone started ringing and Annabelle ran toward the back saying, "Mommy's phone!, Mommy's phone!" She certainly has better hearing than I do because I didn't hear it. She was right. Mommy had left her phone in the back in the bedroom and she heard it before it even started ringing, I think. It was still buzzing!

Another time, when she was using her potty for what it was designed for instead of "frowing up" she picked up something I had on the edge of the tub. It was one of those handles that you see advertised on tv to help us old folks get in and out of the tub. It looked like a good idea at the time and I didn't realize it wouldn't hold well on my smaller tiles, so I had taken it down for safety reasons and left it on the tub. She grabs it up, holds it to her little ear and says, "Hello?" Yes, indeed it did look like an over-sized headphone from an old telephone.

Yesterday when she was getting very, very tired and ready for a much-needed nap (she really didn't get much more than a few short cat naps once she woke up sick) she had grabbed my hand and in her pitiful little plea begged, "Come pay with me Grandmomma, PLEASE, come pay with me." Over and over and I was about to break when her little hand slipped from my fingers and she fell to the floow and landed somehow on her tummy. She laid her head down still begging and started just boo hooing. It was so very very sad.

I asked her to let me hold her as I had been asking all along, but she refused earier then decided to let me hold her this time. We snuggled up close and I turned the television on to the musical instruments to help soothe her and put her to sleep. It worked and she was soon asleep in my arms. It wasn't the most comfortable position for either of us and she would stir occasionally, trying to get into a better position and crying out, but she managed to sleep for a good hour and a half.
She woke up a little grumpier than usual, but she still wanted to "pay" and we did.

One of her little people was missing. I thought there was a kid with a one, a two, and a three on their body someplace but I could only find 1 & 2. I set her out on a mission to find #3, but neither of us could find it, so I had about decided we only had 1 & 2 and maybe the school teacher and not #3.

We played again after her nap and I pulled out the 1 & 2 numbered kids and was playing with them. From out of the blue Annabelle pulls out another one and says, "Here's number free, Grandmomma!" And she was right. She had found the number 3kid and recognized the three one it, I suppose. How else would she had recognized it was a number three?

Well, she has been on the run with dirty diapers today. Guess that is the end result of this evil bug she's had. Sure hope so anyway. We probably changed four or more diapers this morning. Sure hope she doesn't get dehydrated.

Yesterday she would hardly drink anything. Guess she didn't want to drink it and have it come back up. She had not drank even one sippy cup of water and apple juice combined and usually she drinks lots of fluids during the day.

I pulled out a dropper and one of those medicine spoons and gave her a choice of which she would like to use because we had to get some fluid down her. She chose the spoon. So, we played the game of setting the timer, drinking at least two or three of the medicine spoons filled with juice/water, re-set the timer and repeat, until we started getting some more fluids in her. I let her hold the spoon and drink it herself, and yes, we most certainly did have a few accidents, a drop here and a drop there, but I can always clean the floor. Just get the fluids down here. And then we talked Granddaddy into going and gets some popsicles for her and Mommy. She ate a whole popsicle, a blue one which was her choice.

This afternoon when they got ready to leave, I decided I would not go out to the car with them since I was still in my housecoat. Yes, indeedy, I was. So I stayed inside and Granddaddy went out with them this time. He came rushing back into the house and said Annabelle wanted me to wave bye to her. Mommy said she wanted me to come out to the car and give her kisses. That's a little thing we do when she leaves each time. I always plant kisses in both her little hands and tell her to hold on to them until she needed them and when she feels lonely or sad, she opens her hands and takes out Grandmomma's loving kisses for her. She squenches up her little hands so tight to hold on to them until she needs them. Anyway, I had not given her the kisses she needed, so I had to go out for the world to see me in my housecoat! Anything for the sweetest little girl in the world!

More random thoughts

I said Mommy went to bed sick last night. Well, this morning around 3:00 I heard a baby crying, hard, and still under my stupe I jumped out of bed and flew toward the bathroom to find out where and who the baby was. I opened the door to find Mommy and Annabelle in the bathroom with Mommy green around the gills and Annabelle screaming. They had both gotten up and were up-chucking.

Annabelle had gotten sick while sleeping and had managed to throw-um-up right in the corner of the pack and play. Her breakfast from yesterday morning. And probably her lunch from yesterday as well. It was not a pretty sight, then what was going on in the bathroom wasn't very pretty either, so I ripped the sheet from the pack and play and started washing them out. Of course, I couldn't find the spare sheet. Just my luck! I cleaned up the pack and play the best I could and then went back to help the sick and dying in the bathroom.

Mommy had had the sense to throw Teddy Bear overboard when she found Annabelle throwing up. That would have really been an ugly sight. She has to have her Teddy before she gets comforted from anything.

I found something for Mommy to keep by the side of the bed and sent her back to bed. I would take Annabelle back to the den and hold her for the rest of the morning. It would be easier to clean a wooden floor than carpeting. Annabelle was so sweet. I was surprised that she actually let me take her with me. She seemed to sense that Mommy couldn't take care of her right now, so she settled for me.

Mommy had a really rough time. She kept throwing up about every thirty minutes. (I'll bet she's having second thoughts about believing me when I told her how sick I was when I was expecting her brother! She just didn't think anybody could be that sick. They can be that sick. I speak from experience!) I felt so sorry for her, but I left her pretty much on her own throughout the night because I couldn't handle both of them at the same time and I figured she would be just fine without too much help.

Where was Granddaddy, you ask? He was in the bedroom f.a.s.t asleep. Or so he would leave you to believe, but I know better. I've experienced this man's ability to sleep when he thinks it best suits his needs. He got lots of experience with this when the kids were little. He could sleep through a tornado if the kids were throwing up.

Mommy kept wishing for a Sprite to calm her tummy but she didn't want to wake her Daddy to run out at 4:00 or 5:00, or whatever unearthly time it was.

Annabelle also threw up most of the night. I made the mistake of having her throw up in her little potty. Yes, it was clean. Yes, I had washed it, and No, she hadn't used it since it was washed. But it was a mistake because I carried it up front for her to continue to use. I'm telling you, you do what you have to do when you've got a sick baby on your hands.

I tried to get her to use one of those little plastic hospital throw-up catchers, but she was having nothing to do with it, so that meant she had put her little hands to her mouth to hold it in, then thrown up in the catcher and knocked my hand away as well as splashing the contents all over me, her and the floor. She was very adament. She would say loudly, "I'M DONE, I'M DONE!" I wasn't as confident as she was, but I tried not to aggrevate her too much.

We had kept a light burning in the background so I could see if she needed me. I watched that sweet little girl as she just stared into outer space and busily rubbed Teddy Bear's leg with that little hand of hers. I wondered what was going on in that sweet little brain of hers. She certainly didn't feel well and I'm guessing she thought if she didn't move she's be better off. But Teddy's leg sure got a good working out and I'm surprised he isn't sporting a leg with a rubbed through spot. She took her anxieties out on Teddy, but that's what he's for.

We made it through the night (the two of us) and finally around 7:30 or 8:00 after Mommy needed a Sprite again, I woke Granddaddy to get on the road picking up things for the sick. And as luck would have it, I had only four diapers left here that were Annabelle's size so I had to get some from the diaper bag. Granddaddy would have to make a run to Costco as soon as it opened later in the morning. We kept him busy running from here to there.

Finally aroud 6:30-7:00 a.m. Annabelle threw up one last time and then since it was time to get up, so she thought, she was ready to play. It's amazing how fast they seem to recover, while it takes us days to get over something.

I had told her not to bother her Mommy because Mommy was sick. She stood in front of me and said, "I sick, too!" Yes, she had been sick, indeed and she thought I was not acknowledging just how sick she was. Mommy would continue to hang her head over until late afternoon. Much later than Annabelle. I guess it just takes longer to pass through an adult than a little one, but I was so glad to see her feeling better.

She would have nothing less than for me to "Pay with me, Grandmomma, pay with me!"
And we did just that. Before lunch and when I was pretty sure she wasn't going to throw up anymore, I put her into the bathtub and washed her good along with her hair. I let her soak for a while while I scrubbed her soiled pajamas and soaked them in enzyme stuff, until I could get them into the washing machine.

Granddaddy dried her hair in he big-girl beauty parlor chair while I escaped to the bathroom for my own bath. We both really did need it after last night. Then it was time to start washing some of those clothes so she would have clean ones for tonight. Mommy had only brought one pair of pajamas along and normally we don't need them, but last night we did. So it was wash and dry time.

And since she had a white shirt on earlier it had to be handwashed. She also had a little red/pinkish top and bottom which also needed hand washing. That I finally threw into the wash with some like-colored clothes. She was ready for some clean clothes for nighttime and later.

One funny thing she said to me was "That one's different from the others." When I had asked her about something, she had recognized the difference, but had used her big fifty-cent word to tell me it was different.

Daddy got into town but Mommy wouldn't let him cover over because she didn't want him catching it, so they spent the night with us. We really didn't want Daddy to get sick. That stuff was really nasty!

Here's hoping we stay well, Granddaddy and I!
